Razor sharp, comfortable grip, holds its edge. It would be a bargain at its regular price of about $40, but at $12.50 it is a steal.
I have used this knife on a number of occasions and every time I ask myself what is the big deal. If you want an utilitarian knife without a pleasurable experience this is for you. The fibrox handles are spongy and rubbery.
They rate very expensive All-Clad cookware high but rarely try to rate expensive cutlery. A better wooden handle knife is more expensive but well worth it if you planing to use it everyday. America's Test Kitchen has a very inconsistent philosophy.
I prefer finished wooden handles which has firmness that translate energy more efficiently and produces a better feel when cutting. So when they consistently give this knife the victory in every competition, I always get a chuckle. The knife is fairly sharp and is great for a cooking school where cheap and easy to sharpen knives are required but for a personal home knife, I disagree.
This knife also has a large belly and overall a big profile which is not necessary but makes up for a lack of bolster in weight. But if you want to get some joy out of prep work look at Shun's or others.
The handle is comfortable and does not tire my hand with heavy chopping. I bought this knife on the recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. I haven't had it very long so it's a bit early to tell how well it holds it's edge. I'm very pleased with the balance and feel of it. It's relatively lightweight for a knife of this size, but it cut's like a dream. I like it better than my very expensive Cutco knife of the same size. The price is very reasonable and the product is a very good value.
This knife has served me very well. It's incredibly cheap but it cuts through things quite nicely. There is no reason not to get it unless you are a high end user who likes to spend money on expensive kitchen knives.
These are the greatest knives - and price is good, too. Will probably never buy another brand again. Service was very good.
